March Monthly Meeting: Accessible Social Media
March 16, 2022 @ 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Social Media Accessibility
Individuals with sensory disabilities navigate social media and the digital world differently. With one in four adults in the United States having some form of a disability, an organization must be able to effectively reach a diverse population through social media.
Join your fellow communications professionals as we hear from social media accessibility expert Alexa Heinrich. Alex will share how to make content more accessible through the implementation of alt text, video captioning, proper emoji use, strategic copywriting, and more. This presentation is suitable for any level of experience, from veteran marketers to everyday social media users. You’re sure to leave with easy-to-implement tips regardless of how you use social media in your day-to-day life. Key takeaways include:
- General Info on Disability and Accessibility
- Assistive Technology and Devices
- The Impact of Accessibility
- How to Be Accessible With Copywriting
- How to Be Accessible With Images
- How to Be Accessible With Videos
- Testing Your Content for Accessibility
The program includes 30 minutes of networking with peers, then the presentation, followed by any questions.
