September Monthly Meeting: Passing of the Gavel and Board Installation

The Dick Pope Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association will hold its monthly professional development meeting and a special “Passing of the Gavel” in honor our Dick Pope Chapter past presidents during a gavel-passing ceremony, with each gavel pass, members are reminded of FPRA”s rich history and the long line of leaders who dedicated their careers to furthering the public relations profession and FPRA. Jay Morgan-Schleuning will join us in the celebration of our future with the installation of our new 2022-2023 FPRA Dick Pope Chapter board.
The event will also include leadership insights from Jay Morgan-Schleuning, APR, CPRC, the 2022-2023 state association president. Jay will also discuss his theme and mission, “You Belong to FPRA.” Morgan-Schleuning is a principal at Authentic Reputations, managing stakeholder relations and strategic communications. He specializes in providing strategic communications, public relations, marketing, branding and reputation counsel to associations and nonprofits.
Prior to his work at Authentic Reputations, Morgan-Schleuning served in a variety of communications roles for ARC of Florida, Florida Chamber of Commerce, Visit Florida and the American Heart Association. He also worked as an on-air TV news anchor and reporter in several media markets, including Orlando.

Jay Morgan-Schleuning, APR, CPRC is the founder of Authentic Reputations, a boutique consultancy that helps mission-driven leaders build trust and inspire stakeholders. Jay advises and coaches chief executive officers, executive directors, vice presidents, board chairs and other leaders focused on their organization’s strategy and reputation.
Prior to launching his business, Jay led successful teams and communication programs at high-impact mission-driven organizations, including the American Heart Association, Florida Chamber of Commerce, Visit Florida and The Arc of Florida. During the first decade of his career, he was an award-winning consumer-investigative reporter, producer and anchor at TV stations across the Southeast and Midwest.
Jay is the president of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA), the oldest public relations organization in the United States. He was named Member of the Year in 2020 for his leadership at the Florida Public Relations Education Foundation. During Jay’s time as chair, the Foundation diversified its board and grew its donor base from 22 to 160 in less than two years. He was named Chapter President of the Year in 2017. During his term as president of the Capital Chapter in Tallahassee, he led the chapter through a change management initiative that produced strategic, fundraising and marketing plans.
Jay has a Master of Science degree in Communications Management from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication-Broadcast News from the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. He holds the internationally recognized Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) and is a Certified Public Relations Counselor (CPRC). Jay has received 28 state and local FPRA Image Awards for issues, crisis and change management initiatives he directed.
